But modern technology products are actually fairly simple to install and use. The kids of today are growing up with technology all around them, so they will have no difficulty getting to grips with these devices or helping others, like their grandparents for example, when they run into problems with them. Modern technology can also make life at home easier in lots of ways – and we’re not just talking about smart blinds or shutters that open and close themselves here, or lighting that switches itself on and off automatically when the sun sets or when dawn breaks. Using technology with the younger members of your household in mind can also take the stress off you – or help you create a snug space for your family, depending on what you’re looking for. What kind of technical products are suitable for children’s rooms? How you incorporate technology into your children’s rooms is of course entirely up to you, but let’s take a closer look at some suggestions you might want to consider: Smart lighting – this is great for conjuring up a fun and cosy atmosphere for your kids. Having the option to choose between different colours means you can add an extra special touch to their carefully constructed den or create a relaxing setting for storytime. With smart lighting, you can also set the lights to turn off one at a time in the evenings, so it doesn’t get dark too suddenly. Smart speakers – these can be used in all kinds of creative ways. Apart from playing your children’s favourite tunes, they’re also handy for quizzes, storytime or simply for finding out what sounds different animals make! When your kids get older, they can also use voice commands to get the speaker to switch the lights on and off in their rooms. Smart sensors – here’s a clever idea: why not use a motion sensor to make the lights come on if your child wakes up in the night to go to the toilet? Put it under or next to their bed so it will pick up the movement of their feet hitting the floor during the night. Having the lights on low will keep your children safer by stopping them from tripping over anything left lying around. Smart roller blinds – motorised blackout roller blinds are smart on several levels. For one thing, they can shut the light out of your children’s rooms, making it easier for your kids to sleep while the sun’s still up. But you can also set them to close automatically at a certain point to signal that it’s bedtime. Another bonus, purely from a safety perspective, is that these kinds of roller blinds don’t come with any no loose ball chains or cords that could be dangerous for small children. Smart plugs – if your children are ever tempted to sneak out of bed at night to watch TV, you can put a stop to that with a smart plug. By programming it to cut off the power supply at a certain time, they won’t be able to watch their favourite shows after all and they’ll have no choice but to go back to bed and settle down again. As we’ve already mentioned, smart technology offers a whole range of possibilities and you’re free to make use of them as you wish. But you will soon realise that they can make your everyday life that little bit easier – and, just as importantly, your little ones are sure to appreciate that too!
