As burglaries are on the increase, it’s becoming more and more important to take such measures. While insurance policies cover material losses, they do nothing to stop intruders coming into your home. A smart alarm is a concrete way to protect your family.

There are many different alarm solutions available on the market, including both subscription services and those that are subscription-free. A subscription-free home alarm means that you own the alarm and the devices connected to it. If you move to a new home, you can easily take the alarm with you. Another big advantage of subscription-free home alarms is that there is no monthly recurring costs, which can add up to a lot of money over the years…

You can install a smart home alarm yourself in a short period of time. In a normal-sized home, installation should take no more than 30 minutes. Just follow the detailed instructions in the app that controls the alarm.

Is there zone protection in self-installed home alarms?

Yes, at least in the home alarms from Somfy!
Zone protection means that the outside of the house (the shell) is alarmed. There are no indoor sensors or other such devices, so you can move freely within the home. Most people activate their alarm zone before going to bed at night, so they can sleep safe in the knowledge that doors, windows and other entrances to the home are protected with an active alarm.

In the Somfy Protect app, you can choose which devices should be active when you shell protect your home. A common option is to activate all door and window sensors (IntelliTAG) so that attempted break-ins at these locations can be detected.
In some cases indoor motion sensors may also be included, depending on the floor plan. But you should make sure that your access points to the kitchen and the bathroom are sensor free, as you need to be able to be able to visit these places in the night without the alarm going off.

A smart alarm allows you sleep in peace. Just don’t forget to deactivate it in the morning when you wake up before everyone else – or they’ll be woken up too!
