Smart homes do a lot for us, but sometimes you still need alternative options for controlling devices around your house. These days, we’re used to scheduling actions through our smart home systems and being able to operate all kinds of features just with the power of our voice. Yet as convenient as automation may be, being able to control items such as blinds and shutters via a wall switch can be useful too – for many reasons: younger members of the household may not be ready to handle new technology features, for example, while older ones may simply be more accustomed to having a physical button to press. Wireless control wherever you want it One of the main advantages of wireless, battery-powered wall switches is that you can put them anywhere you like. If you want to use wired systems, you need to make sure there are cables running through the walls to the point where you’re planning to install your controls. With wireless devices, however, you don’t need to hire an electrician to sort out any cabling – leaving you with a little more cash in your budget to spend on other home-enhancing features. Here's a great example: if you install a wall switch next to your bed, you can easily open your motorised roller blinds in the morning without even leaving the comfort of your duvet. You could even go a step further and add a Scenario Player. This can be programmed to activate two different scenes in your TaHoma system so that – depending on the array of smart devices you have in your home – you can open the roller blinds, turn on the lights, turn up the heating and get the coffee machine brewing at just the touch of a button. The Scenario Player io alone offers a number of practical benefits: if you mount it next to your front door, you can easily activate a “Leaving home” scene that switches most devices off when you go out, or a “Coming home” scene that turns everything back on again. All you need to do is press a switch. What can you control with Somfy’s wall switches? Somfy offers a wide range of wireless wall switches for operating our products, with various options available depending on what you want to control in your home. Our Smoove series features stylish switches for different types of blinds and shutters, including standard up and down controls for roller blinds but also special functions for pulling curtains to the side. And there’s also our Smoove Lighting io if you want to control your lighting too. All these devices can be fixed in place with either double-sided adhesive tape or a couple of screws – simple!
